Description

For over a decade or so, Moser has been pushing the limits both in terms or design and technical innovation. From the piece unique Swiss Cheese Watch and the Swiss Alp Concept Tourbillon Minute Repeater with no hands, to the recent MB&F Endeavour Cylindrical Tourbillon, their sometimes ‘cheesy’, but mostly marvelous timepieces have stood the test of time and the brand is going strength to strength with almost every new launch.

The present reference is the Streamliner Flyback Chronograph 6902-1201 in stainless steel, launched in early 2020, it was Moser’s first sports watch with an integrated steel bracelet.

There is so much to admire in this timepiece. Let’s begin with the dial: The Funky Blue fumé dial is H. Moser & Cie.’s modern interpretation of a chronograph watch and the flagship of the Streamliner’s minimalist and fluid design.

The case is 70s inspired which is square, but tapered along the sides, rounding off on the edges to integrate into the bracelet. The case features a radial brushed matte finish with polished sides. Both the brushed and polished finishes extend on the bracelet, which has polished edges on the sides and in between the links.

Every single angle of this watch is paid attention to. And the result is a fresh, new take on the steel sports watch design which even Genta would approve.

On the inside is the Moser’s very own automatic chronograph Calibre HMC 902 offering 54 hours of power reserve.

The finishing on the movement is impeccable, as one would expect from the brand. The watch offers 120 meters of water resistance.

H. Moser & Cie – bio

H. Moser & Cie was founded by independent watchmaker Heinrich Moser in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1828. Notable early clients of H. Moser & Cie included Russian princes and members of the Russian Imperial Court; Vladimir Lenin also owned a Moser watch. After Moser died in 1874, the company was sold, and its business in Russia was expropriated in 1918 due to the October Revolution.

In 1953, H. Moser & Cie continued its business in Le Locle, Switzerland where it shifted its focus from pocket watches to wristwatches. Due to the quartz crisis, H. Moser & Cie became a part of the Dixi Mechanique Group and the original brand name was dropped. In 2002, Moser Schaffhausen AG was founded by Dr. Jürgen Lange together with Heinrich Moser’s great-grandson Roger Nicholas Balsiger, and the brand H. Moser & Cie was formally re-launched in 2005.
