Description

Moser has been notoriously introducing disruptive timepieces for a few years now, but what the brand is really known for is their Concept dial.
Free of any text, logos or indexes, the super clean dials have become an identity of the brand. In the past, there have been a few Swiss Alp Concept watches including a minute repeater (without any hands), the Venturer Concept and the Endeavour Concept.

The present watch Endeavour Concept Perpetual Ref: 1801-1200 features a Vantablack dial.
Vantablack is a proprietary material and one of the darkest substances known, absorbing upto 99.965% of visible light.

So technically there is no reflection of light on the surface. Moser takes things to the next level with this one, to create a dial that is as dark as it can get, with absolutely no text or logos and just the high-polished hands for hours and minutes, a small hand for AM/PM indication and a moonphase that appears to be floating in an expansive dark night sky with no stars. The moonphase complication is accurate to one day every 1,027.3 years.

The polished stainless steel case measures 42mm X 12.9mm which encases the in-house manual-wound Calibre HMC 801 featuring the Moser’s interchangeable escapement and offers an impressive 7-Day power reserve. The power reserve indicator is on the back, on an extensively finished movement which can be admired through the sapphire caseback.

This unusually gorgeous timepiece is offered on a black leather strap with steel pin buckle.

H. Moser & Cie – bio

H. Moser & Cie was founded by independent watchmaker Heinrich Moser in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1828. Notable early clients of H. Moser & Cie included Russian princes and members of the Russian Imperial Court; Vladimir Lenin also owned a Moser watch. After Moser died in 1874, the company was sold, and its business in Russia was expropriated in 1918 due to the October Revolution.

In 1953, H. Moser & Cie continued its business in Le Locle, Switzerland where it shifted its focus from pocket watches to wristwatches. Due to the quartz crisis, H. Moser & Cie became a part of the Dixi Mechanique Group and the original brand name was dropped. In 2002, Moser Schaffhausen AG was founded by Dr. Jürgen Lange together with Heinrich Moser’s great-grandson Roger Nicholas Balsiger, and the brand H. Moser & Cie was formally re-launched in 2005.
