Charles Girardier
A beautiful story of watchmaking that had fallen asleep at the death of its creator in 1839, is reborn from its ashes with the desire to participate once again in the history of watchmaking. Charles Girardier known as « the Elder » was a master watchmaker who practised his art of watchmaking in Geneva between the second half of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. His product signature was linked to the art of Geneva enamelling with hand-painted miniatures on the dials. He was also a watchmaker who loved mechanical art for the staging of playlet with automata, notably Jaquemarts.
When Patrick Ulm discovered the history of Geneva watchmaker Charles Girardier, he had no idea that this spiritual encounter would enable him to write a new chapter in the history of the deceased company. With passion is born a vision of a contemporary watchmaking brand linked to a history. Patrick Ulm decided to create timepieces inspired by the story of an 18th century Geneva watchmaker whose values were playful mechanical animation and the sublimation of this through crafts such as grand feu enamel dials with « paillons ».
