In 2011, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the Master Ultra-Thin Moon followed by the Master Ultra-Thin Tourbillon in 2012.
As the names suggest, the first one is a moonphase and the second one, a Tourbillon and both in incredibly thin cases for what they are. And then in 2013, Jaeger introduced the drop-dead gorgeous ultra-thin perpetual calendar. At 39mm in diameter and a mere 9.2mm thick, this redefined the meaning of a high-complication dress watch. Initially it was launched in white gold and rose gold, and a steel variant was added later, making it the most beautiful perpetual calendar wristwatch at an incredibly affordable price point.

The present reference Q1308470 is the stainless steel with black dial version from the Master Ultra-Thin series. It retains all of the beauty of the original such as the 39mm stainless steel case, measuring just 9.2mm thick, and enhancing its charm is the deep black, sunray-brushed dial.

It features a neatly laid out perpetual calendar displaying the year in an aperture at 7 o’clock, day, date, month in three registers and the moon phases at 12 o’clock, with the central hours, minutes and seconds.

A little aperture under the moon phase indicator keeps a tab on the AM/PM times and warns the wearer when it is not safe to adjust the watch. It is usually between 10pm and 2am that all the gears are aligned, and changing the date during these hours can seriously damage the gears.

At the heart of this timepiece is the JLC self-winding caliber 868, which is the ultra-thin modular perpetual calendar movement. The caliber is a mere 4.72mm thick!

This ultimate dress watch is offered on a hand-stitched black alligator strap.

Jaeger-LeCoultre – Bio

Jaeger-LeCoultre has been at the forefront of inventions throughout its history, right from the beginning in 1803, when the founder Antoine LeCoutre invented a machine to cut watch pinions from steel. The brand was established in 1833, and years later in 1937, a Paris-based watchmaker Edmond Jaeger joins LeCoutre to form Jaeger-LeCoutre. The duo continue to produce some astonishing movements, spread over 1300 calibers and counting.
Through the years, watchmakers such as Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin have used the company’s movements.
