Description

A. Lange & Sohne’s resurrection in 1994 saw the launch of the flagship model – Lange 1, alongside other three models the Arkade, the Saxonia and the Tourbillon “Pour le Mérite”.

Today, after several iterations and upgrades, Lange 1 continues to be the flag bearer of the legendary brand and is one of the most recognizable watches in the industry.

What many see as just another dial, is actually a very detailed and thought-provoking layout. The dial of Lange 1 follows strict mathematical proportions and is designed in a way that none of the functions of the watch overlap each other. The hours and minutes, the seconds, the big date and the power reserve are all separated, operating within their own space. What’s more impressive is that all of that is encased in a 38.5mm case diameter. This is a marvelous timepiece in more ways than meets the eye.

The present reference Lange 1 191.028 is an exclusive edition crafted in white gold, featuring a deep-blue dial. Within the scope of the “Blue Series”, this model was introduced in 2017 together with the Lange 1 Daymatic, the Saxonia and the Saxonia Automatic. The dial is crafted from solid silver and graced with solid-gold appliques and hour markers. The hands are made of rhodiumed gold.

The case measures 38.5 mm in diameter and 9.8 mm in thickness, housing the in-house calibre L121.1 hand-wound movement, featuring the trademark three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver with Glashütte ribbing decoration and the hand-engraved balance cock. The twin mainspring barrel movement powers the watch for 72 hours.

This rare and exclusive beauty from the German powerhouse is offered on a dark blue hand-stitched alligator strap with a white gold pin buckle.

A.Lange & Sohne – bio

Founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Germany.  The company soon became the pioneers in watchmaking in their region.  After Ferdinand’s death his sons, Emil and Richard continued to produce the finest pocket watches of their time.
During World War II, they were victims of bombardments and eventually even got nationalised by the Soviet administration and ceased to exist. At the fall of the Berlin wall in 1990, the grand son of the founder, Walter Lange, revived the company with the help of Swiss watch manufacturers such as IWC & Jaeger-LeCoultre.   The brand introduced their new collection in 1994 with success and by 2000 the company got acquired by the Richemont Group.
