In 2018, Vacheron Constantin introduced a new line of classic watches called the “Fifty Six”. A first for the brand to offer a classic line in both precious metal and steel. The collection is inspired by the reference 6073 from the 1950s, which was VC’s first water-resistant self-winding. A bridge between the classic and contemporary, it featured a 40mm X 9.6mm case with the new Vacheron Caliber 1326, a sector dial, alternating Arabic numerals and baton hour-markers, box crystal, and a crown recessed into its case.

The present reference 4400E/000A-B943 was launched exclusively for Mr. Porter, Vacheron’s eRetailer.
A 30-piece numbered limited edition, this Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix features a beautiful petrol blue dial – a colour specifically developed for the collection, displaying the day-date function, along with a power reserve indicator in a 40mm stainless-steel case. The raised Arabic numerals and baton markers, as well as the polished hands are made in 18K white gold.

Under that gorgeous dial is a self-winding Calibre 2475 SC/2, equipped with a stop-seconds function offering a 40-hour power reserve. The finishing on the movement is detailed, with the perlage on the baseplate, Geneva stripes on the bridges with beveled edges and polishied screw heads and counter sinks. But one could just get lost in the beauty of the skeleton rotor carved out of 22K gold, featuring satin and grained finish, and a Maltese cross filigree.
The movement and the case is stamped with the Geneva seal.

This rare beauty is offered on a brown calf-skin strap, with a stainless steel deployant clasp.
