The Altiplano collection was launched in 1998, inspired the brand’s 1957 ultra-thin model.
This is the collection that carries the responsibility of Piaget’s title of “The Master of Ultra-Thin” In 2010, Piaget set a double record for the world’s thinnest automatic movement and thinnest automatic watch. The same year, it celebrated the 50th anniversary of the famous Calibre 12P launched in 1960.

The present model The Piaget Altiplano 900p (Ref: GOA39111) was launched in 2014, claiming the title of World’s thinnest hand-wound mechanical watch at the time, measuring a mere 3.65mm in height and 38mm in case diameter.

Carved out of white gold, the case-back itself forms a part of the movement, acting as the baseplate on which this marvellous movement is based, composing of 145 components.

The off-centre silver/black dial displays the hours and minutes, while the entire gear-train encircles the bottom-half of the dial, making it a visual delight contrasting against the jewels and the blackened bridges and screws.

The overall profile of the watch is so slender, it feels like second skin on the wrist. This mechanical marvel is offered on a black alligator strap.

Piaget – bio

In 1874, Georges Edouard Piaget setup a small workshop on his family farm in the Jura Mountains, dedicating his life to the development and manufacturing of high-precision mechanical movements. His popularity traveled beyond the mountains and Piaget soon started supplying movements to some prestigious brands in the region.
But it was in 1943, that the manufacture launched a watch under the Piaget brand and has been making ultra-thin timepieces since 1955.
In 1957, the brand introduced the Caliber 9p, a 2mm thick hand-wound movement and in 1960, they launched the world’s thinnest self-winding movement measuring just 2.3mm.

Currently under the Richemont portfolio of brands, Piaget continues this tradition of setting new world records with over twenty in-house ultra-thin movements.
