Description
Patek Philippe is a brand well-known for its perpetual calendar wrist watches. But never has the brand made an in-line perpetual calendar wristwatch, until now. The first Patek Philippe perpetual calendar wristwatch was introduced in 1925 (No. P-72) and in 1972, the brand launched the in-line perpetual calendar in a pocket watch.
Taking this a step further, in 2021 Patek revealed the present reference Patek Philippe Ref. 5236P-001 In-Line Perpetual Calendar. An unconventional 41.3mm x 11.5mm platinum case houses the complete perpetual calendar with the day, date and month in-line just under 12 o’clock, a moonphase within the sub-seconds counter at 6 o’clock with the day/night and the leap year indicators on either side. The functions are adjusted using the quickset pushers recessed along the case flanks. The dial is a beautiful gradient blue, with baton hands and markers, making this one of the most elegant and neatly laid out perpetual calendars on the market.
On the inside is the new Cal. 31-260 PS QL, which is although a modular alteration, it is an intricate art of work. It uses a unidirectional platinum micro-rotor to wind the barrel, providing up to 48hrs power reserve. The movement construction is bliss to look at, reminiscent of the classic Swiss full-bridge movement. And the finishing overall is simply stunning, signed off with the PP seal of quality.
This elegant beauty is offered on a hand-stitched blue alligator strap.
