Description

The 70s was a challenging decade for the Swiss mechanical watch industry, and the direction to take was to introduce a luxury sports watch in steel. The Royal Oak and the Nautilus were already on the shelves and it was time for Vacheron, the oldest continuous watch manufacturer to respond.

Hence their first luxury sports watch was the “222” launched in 1977, which evolved over the years and became the *Overseas*, one of the most recognised timepieces in the world.

1999 saw the introduction of a chronograph based on a Frédéric Piguet 1185 modified with the addition of a large date mechanism. And in 2006, a dual time Overseas was added to the collection, featuring second time zone, power reserve, day night and date indications.

Since then there have been a few more complications added to the collection such as the Ultra-thin Perpetual Calendar, a tourbillon and the Worldtime.

The present reference 7910V/000T-B922 Overseas Dual Time “Everest” is one of 150 pieces limited edition launched in 2021. Cut out of titanium and steel, on interchangeable straps, this creation is inspired by the prototype worn by American explorer and photographer Cory Richards during his ascent of Mount Everest in 2019.

The case measures 41mm, featuring the signature Overseas design. The textured greyish blue dial display two time zones, and an AM/PM indicator, both highlighted by arrow-tipped orange hands. The sub-dial at 6 o’clock displays the date.
Powering the functions is the in-house self-winding 5110 DT/2 movement with 60th power reserve. The anthracite grey NAC treatment on the baseplate gives the movement a contemporary character, while the 22K pink gold oscillating weight is adorned with an engraving of Mount Everest inspired by a photograph taken by Cory Richards.

This stunning timepiece comes on a Grey fabric strap with Orange stitching, featuring a black nubuck leather lining.
Delivered with a second strap in grey rubber and its original complete set including the presentation box.
