Description

The 1970s presented a challenging era for the Swiss mechanical watch industry, prompting the introduction of a luxury sports watch in steel. With the Royal Oak and the Nautilus already making waves, Vacheron, the oldest continuous watch manufacturer, felt compelled to respond. Hence, the inaugural Overseas, the Reference 222, was launched in 1977. Over time, the Overseas has transformed into one of the most renowned models, not only within the Vacheron catalogue but also in the broader world of watches.

In 1999, a chronograph based on a Frédéric Piguet 1185, modified with the addition of a large date mechanism, was introduced. Then, in 2006, a dual time Overseas joined the collection, featuring second time zone, power reserve, day-night, and date indications.

Since then, several more complications have been integrated into the collection, including the Ultra-thin Perpetual Calendar and the Worldtime.

The current reference, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph 5500V/110A-B147, features a 42.5mm stainless steel case with a polished caseband and bezel, while the remainder is satin brushed finished.

The exquisite brown dial showcases the time, date, chronograph, and small seconds functions. The 18K white gold black oxidized hands and faceted 18K white gold markers are both filled with superluminova.

The automatic movement boasts a power reserve of 52 hours. The full stainless steel bracelet with Vacheron links and deployment buckle allows for effortless attachment to the wrist, ensuring a day of enjoyment with this timepiece.
