Description

An ode to the classic triple calendar display

As a part of Vacheron Constantin’s “Historiques” collection, the Triple Calendar 1942 is steeped in iconic heritage. Inspired by its predecessors, the watch showcases a legendary triple calendar display, retelling the date, day, and month in pure class. One watch, in particular, serves as its muse—the Vacheron Constantin Triple Calendrier, 4240, crafted in 1942. Hence, the namesake. It was the first Vacheron wristwatch with a complete calendar display.

As we take a trip back in time, we unearth more about this watch’s pedigree. Vacheron was one of the first to enter the market of triple calendar watches, first with a pocket watch in 1929, and then the wristwatch in 1942. Since then, this vintage watch has been coveted by watch-admirers across the globe, being sold in auctions along with variations.

The Vacheron Constantin Historiques Triple Calendar 1942 is a vintage-inspired watch and is considered an heir to the epic 1942 version. Imbuing retro aesthetics, it includes the iconic triple calendar merged with classic blue, silver, and black hues. A highlight is the finely etched gadroons of the watch’s case, giving a contemporary detail to this traditional piece. Second and hour hands feature a delightful red accent that contrasts gorgeously.

On the technical side, The Vacheron Constantin Historiques Triple Calendar 1942 has a nearly 3-day power reserve and its inner workings are on full display through an open, sapphire case back. The size is 40mm in diameter, making it a universal fit. Its strap material, Mississippiensis alligator in dark blue, is classic, stylish, and vintage.

The finishing touches include a splendid silvery dial, bold and legible numerals, and of course, the day and time indicators. Watch complications at their finest. Anyone who wears this instantly makes themselves a part of history.
