Description
The Nautilus collection is the sport watch by excellence since 1976. In this very year, Mr Gerald Genta designed it in a restaurant during the Basel fair. Patek Philippe was known for it’s round shaped case and classical watches, therefore, due to the high number of sport watches produced in the industry, Mr Genta decided to design a sport watch and took his inspiration in the Nautical arts and more specifically from a ship’s porthole. This design had an immediate success and is now an unquestionable collection in the Patek Philippe dynasty.
The width bezel gives a large vision on the dial as the horizon when watching through an porthole and the side lugs also called “ears” are inspired by the hinges on these windows. A simple but elegant design that helped Patek Philippe to touch a large public of watch passionates.
Years after years, the Nautilus collection’s success is colossal also due to the new versions released with a larger case or a sapphire case-back. It is considered as the must-to-have timepiece for man or woman’s lifestyle as it combines elegance, sporty and a timeless design.
*The Nautilus collection is the sport watch by excellence since 1976, designed by Gerald Genta who took inspiration from the Nautical world and specially from a ship’s porthole, an icon was born.
Admittedly the most famous reference of the collection bears the “5711” badge since 2006. The present model is a very special edition of a handful of pieces only, long believed to be a myth even… Patek Philippe started to make these on special request around 2013-2014 for important customers of the Genevan Maison, platinum was never available on the public catalogue. What truly sets the present reference 5711/1P-010 apart is that it is rendered in mighty platinum with a different shade of blue, this dial is called “Bleu Roi” it distinguishes it from the standard steel model’s blue, called initially “Noir Trame” for the 5711/1A-001 (2006-2012±) and then “Bleu Trame” for the 5711/1A-010 (±2012-2021).
Another little different touch is the the date window’s edge which is framed and the ‘Patek Philippe – Geneve‘ text is boxed like on later iterations of the 5711/1A.
Further down, into the side of the bezel at 6 o’clock, you can find a small flawless diamond, a discreet sign to spot a Patek Philippe watch made in the most noble metal, highly collectable, in a nutshell this model is considered to be The Grail Nautilus. It is known that less than a hundred of these were manufactured.
Not only it is extremely difficult to find such a collectible but to find it brand new is an achievement, offered here with its original warranty certificate, manual of instruction and wooden box.
