Description

Successor to the line of perpetual calendars, such as the reference 3970 and 5970, the 5270 was launched in 2011 at Baselworld.
Initially in white gold, followed by rose gold (5270R white dial) in 2015 and since late 2018 a platinum version (salmon dial) has been released.

Three dial variations were quietly introduced for the 5270G white dial (-001 -013 -018) and two for the blue dial version (-014 -019). Very few people know of its existence but a white gold 50 pieces limited edition (-015), white dial with blue chronograph hand and blue tachometer was released in 2013 for their retailer in Munich, Germany.

1st dial variation (-001 white): produced between 2011 and 2013, white (silvery opaline) dial with black gold hands and numerals, certainly the most legible among all three dial variations, the lack of tachymeter scale gives the impression of a much bigger dial.

2nd dial variations (-013 white -014 blue -015 white) produced between 2013 and 2015, the hands and numerals are now in a more classical white gold and the tachymeter scale has been added, the scale follows the contour of the subsidiary seconds counter creating what is known as “The Chin”, a rather polarizing subject among collectors.

3rd variations (-018 -019) produced between 2015 and 2017, the hands and numerals are still in white gold but the tachymeter scale now stops at the intersection of the seconds subdial, this “Chin-less” dial was more appreciated by collectors.

Announced in Spring 2018, the noble platinum case has been added to the 5270 series, with a splendid golden opalin “salmon” dial, surprising many since until then the salmon dials were generally reserved for special editions.

The present reference 5270r-013 is a special order requested by an esteemed collector, who chose this special combination. Made in 2018, the 41mm case in rose gold features a black ebony dial with a tachometer scale in white print (without chin) and a special red chronograph hands. These subtle changes make this timepiece more desirable than any regular 5270 to any seasoned collector.

On the inside is the in-house manual winding caliber CH 29‑535 PS Q powering the hours / minutes, chronograph, perpetual calendar and the day/night indicator. It is one of the best designed movements and finished to the highest standards featuring perlage on the baseplate, Geneva stripes and satin finished bridges, black polished screws and mirror polished anglage, all approved with the PP hallmark seal.

This rare beauty is offered on a hand-stitched black alligator strap and a rose gold deployant clasp.

Accompanied by its original warranty certificate, rose gold solid case back, setting pin and wooden presentation box.

Exclusively offered by K2 Luxury this unique piece is a one of a lifetime opportunity to get your hands on a unique modern Patek Philippe.
