Patek Philippe is the last independent family-owned Geneva based watchmaker, with a glorious history of producing incredibly gorgeous and ultra-complicated timepieces, commissioned by royalty, heads of states and some industrialists who changed the course of history.

The first minute repeater completed by Patek Philippe was in 1845, and the first perpetual calendar was produced by the maison in 1864, delivered on March 24, 1865, to F. de la Peña, watchmaker to the queen and supplier to the court of Madrid.
One of the first Patek Philippe super-complicated watches was commissioned by automobile mogul James Ward Packard in 1916, followed by several more requests from the same gentleman, the last of which, an astronomical watch with 10 complications and a star chart, was delivered in 1927 to his hospital bed while he was battling brain tumour.
Then came the legendary super-complication timepiece made for Henry Graves Jr., with 24 complications, completed in 1932, which sold at Sotheby’s in 1999 for a staggering USD 11 million, and then sold again in 2014 for USD 24 million making it the most expensive timepiece ever sold at that time, earning it the title ‘Mona Lisa of watchmaking’.

If Patek Philippe was to be defined by 3 complications, it would be the perpetual calendar, the chronograph and the minute repeater.
And combining them together is in the DNA of Patek Philippe.

Among the modern grand complications, reference 5074R is perhaps the most revered Patek Philippe wrist watch combining a perpetual calendar with the minute repeater. An application is required to obtain this piece, justifying the motivation behind the purchase, the collector’s background, and their relationship with the brand.

When a piece is already so complicated to acquire, one can only imagine what it would take to convince the Maison to produce just one piece, with a certain customization!

The present example is one such timepiece with a custom matt grey dial under the special reference 5074R-016 (the standard reference comes with a black dial 5074R-001), elevating the beauty of this watch to a whole new level.
Yes, this is a unique 01/01 piece made upon the request for an important American collector, and we present it to you in its original factory double-sealed condition.

At 42mm, it slides comfortably under the cuff, occasionally peeping out, earning the admiration of the fellow connoisseurs. A divine combination of refined elegance and grand complications, the case is crafted in pink gold, with the self-winding in-house calibre R27 Q, finished beautifully with a Patek Philippe Hallmark approval, and powering a minute-repeater and a perpetual calendar.

The dial is very legible, displaying the day, date and month functions, along with the leap year and moonphase indicators.
The minute repeater is activated by a pink gold sliding lever situated at 9 o’clock. The striking complication is based on the traditional 2 gongs with an embedded bolt on the case middle.

Presented on a hand-stitched alligator strap with a pink gold tang buckle, in a box with an in-built watch winder, our watch comes with its full original complete set.
