Revisiting iconic complications
Patek Philippe takes a journey back in time with the 5205R, coming out with a unique color that suits contemporary nuances. The original Annual Calendar Reference 5205 was launched in 2010, including day, date, and mother complications. The year 2022 brought a new model to life.
With each aperture placed along the circle’s arc, this watch’s concave bezel brings a fresh perspective to horology. Its skeletonized lugs and flanks which are hollowed, are a new take on timepiece architecture. Adding a special touch, the piece is completely polished by the hands of the Manufacture’s artisans.
Coming to the dial, its olive green hue is enhanced by a striking sunburst motif. The overall aesthetic is further elevated by a black gradient surrounding its rim and gold applied hour markers. The case is 40mm X 11.36 mm.
Each aperture of the Annual Calendar elements, located in the upper half of the timepiece, is clear and beautifully placed to ensure ideal readability. A gorgeous rose gold frame sitting at 12 o’clock highlights vital information. Other complications include moon phases, a 24-hour indication, and a sweep seconds hand.
Its caseback is a sapphire crystal, and wearers can take a peek at its self-winding Caliber 324 S QA LU 24H. The innovative Patek Philippe Annual calendar mechanism is a patented element of the movement, that is a horological enthusiast’s dream. It only requires a single manual adjustment every year, during the end of February.
An elegant alligator leather strap adorned with square scales gives this piece a fabulous finish. It is entirely handstitched and hand-patinated in a dual-tone green and comes with a prong buckle.

Patek Philippe & Co. was founded in 1839, located in Geneva and the Vallée de Joux. It designs and manufactures timepieces and movements, including some of the most complicated mechanical watches. It is considered by many experts and aficionados to be one of the most prestigious watch manufacturers.
In 1868, Patek Philippe made their first wristwatch, which was sold on November 13, 1876 to the Hungarian Countess.
It is the last independent, family-owned Genevan watch manufacture with uninterrupted operating history spanning nearly 180 years.
