Description
The F.P. Journe Vagabondage II with Diamonds is a limited-edition collector’s favorite, produced on request from 2011 to 2018. As the second chapter of the iconic Vagabondage series, the Vagabondage II comes with just 69 pieces, set in platinum, 68 pieces fashioned in 18k 6N gold, and only 10 pieces in platinum with baguette diamonds. Its rarity and excellence in horology speaks for itself.
To know this piece is to be informed about its history. Its craftsmanship has made a true statement in watchmaking traditions and is a testament to the anti-marketing era. It all began at a Geneva Charity Auction where François-Paul Journe sold three special pieces to contribute towards a research institute for Brain and Spinal Cord Diseases in Paris. The watches had unique twists. The dials weren’t round and didn’t include the F.P. Journe signature. Meanwhile, the case sported a turtle-shaped case. Each piece, in rose gold, white gold, and yellow gold, sold for triple its value.
Owing to this success a 69-piece limited edition in platinum was brought to the market, crafted with an 18K rose gold movement. Without any promotion whatsoever, the series was sold out and collectors were instantly in love. The series was named Vagabondage as a homage to the model’s wandering original digital display.
F.P. Journe Vagabondage II Diamond comes with a manual winding movement and an in-house digital time display. The small seconds aperture is at 6 o’clock and the power reserve sits at 12 o’clock. Its 18k rose gold movement is in full glorious display through a smoked sapphire crystal, with the brand’s signature notably absent.
The Platinum Flat Tortue® case is set with 56 baguette diamonds, with a total of 6.55 carats. Its dimensions are 45.2 to 37.5 mm and a total height of 8mm. The smoked sapphire dial comes with a steel dial bridge and 18k white gold apertures. Its hands are in blued and rhodium-plated steel. The finishing touch comes with its folding clasp in platinum, adorned with 18 baguette diamonds to a total of 0.95 carats.
As mentioned before, only 10 such pieces are present in the world and the present watch bears No 1
