F.P. Journe Elegante was introduced in 2014 as a ladies’ reference with a quartz movement. But not just another quartz movement. 8 years in the making, the F.P. Journe Caliber 1210 is a revolutionary electromechanical movement and an important contribution to the world of horology.
It practically challenges the basic ethos of quartz, taking it to a whole new level. The bridges and plates are made in red gold and finished to the FPJ standards. The watch goes to sleep if not worn for 30 minutes and then jumps back into action adjusting the time automatically taking the battery life to 8 – 10 years with active usage, and up to 18 years in sleep mode.
More recently the Elegante collection has become one of the most sought-after watches on the market.
The present reference is the extremely beautiful F.P. Journe Élégante Joaillerie Platinum Diamonds and Precious Stones, it features a stunning combination of diamonds and precious stones, along with a unique electro-mechanical movement that sets it apart from other luxury watches.
The patented flat Tortue case of the watch is made from platinum uncommon for the Elegante collection and measures 40mm in diameter, the case is set with 315 brilliant-cut white diamonds. The circular portion of the dial is also set with 259 white diamonds and 121 black diamonds hour ring.
The movement of the watch is a unique electro-mechanical movement that is designed to be highly accurate and energy efficient. The movement features a quartz oscillator and is powered by a rechargeable battery that can last for up to 10 years. The watch also features a power saving mode that can extend the battery life even further.
One of the most notable features of the Élégante is its mechanical memory function. The watch is able to detect when it is not being worn and will automatically enter a sleep mode to conserve energy. When the watch is worn again, it will automatically adjust the time to the correct setting within a few seconds.

F.P. Journe – Bio
François-Paul Journe was born in Marseille in 1959. An unruly child, he was sent to a local technical college at the age of 14. He went on to graduate from the Paris watchmaking school in 1976.
In 1982, after five years of work, he finished his tourbillon – and it work !
He founded the F.P. Journe company in 1999, have ever since stunned the world year after year with the visually distinctive and technically innovative watches
The motto of the brand, Invenit et Fecit (Latin for “[He] invented it and made it”) denotes that the company builds the entirety of the watches. Journe often designs brand new movements, even inventing completely new systems, like the famous resonance chronometer.
