Cartier de Pasha pays tribute to the Pasha of Marrakesh Thami El Glaoui, a lover of fine watchmaking and a lifelong customer of Louis Cartier. The reference was launched in 1985, designed by none other than the legend Gerald Genta himself.
Although the case design was large and masculine, the dial boasted or Cartier’s timeless elegance. Over the past 35 years, we have seen several versions of the Pasha de Cartier with various complications, but the base design has seldom, changed, making this another iconic reference from the brand, joining the ranks of the Tank and Santos.
The present reference WSPA0022 was introduced in 2021 as a special edition for the Middle East. An instant hit when launched, this model retains all the iconic features of Pasha de Cartier. It features a 41mm stainless steel case surrounding a green flinqué dial with Hindi numerals, blued steel hands and a date aperture at 4 o’clock.
On the inside is the automatic manufacture Caliber 1847 MC. The case offers 100m water resistance and comes with an integrated steel bracelet with “SmartLink” adjustment system. It also comes with an additional second strap in green alligator skin, with interchangeable steel deployant buckle.
Cartier – Bio
Founded by Louis-Francois Cartier in 1847, the house of Cartier is the luxury jewellers by reference in France.
Jewellers of the royal family and their prominent entourage, they quickly acquired fame in Europe.
Later Louis Cartier gave a second life to old watchmaking traditions with pieces like the mystery clocks, gem-set watches and other flamboyant pieces.
One of their iconic models called the Santos was made in 1904 for his friend and client the aviator from Brazil, Alberto Santos-Dumont. Followed by other successful models like the Tonneau in 1906, the Tortue in 1912 and the famous Tank in 1919 to mention few.
The brand stayed in the family until 1964 and is now owned by a Swiss watch group.
