Description

An unexpected release from Audemars Piguet in 2020 with this remastered edition of the 1940s rare chronograph reference 1533, a retro style very Art Deco watch was presented.

This 21st century’s “vintage” contemporary re-interpretation has a stainless steel case and “teardrop” shaped lugs coupled with a rose gold bezel, push pieces and large crown.   The original model was a 36mm this reference 26595SR.OO.A032VE.01 was made in a 40mm case.
Such combination of bi-color vintage looking timepiece is a very first for the brand and this model is definitely on another league compared to the novelties released by the industry peers.

This harmonious body reveals a stunning yellow gold-toned dial with a blue tachymetric scale • Rose gold central hands indicates the hours & minutes while the blued chronograph hand will strike on this brilliantly reproduced dial when activated • The 30-minutes counter at 9 o’clock has the particularity to have the « 4|5 » printed in red, to allow the measurement of 45-minutes (or a match’s half-time since Mr Jacques-Louis Audemars was a football fan back then) • The old inscription « Audemars Piguet & Co – Genève » is visible under the 12 o’clock numeral for a perfect vintage immersion.
The in-house movement visible through the sapphire case back is the self-winding calibre 4409 seen on the latest Code 11.59 models, with a power-reserve of 70-hours, nobody can miss the gold “Clous de Paris” decorated pattern rotor.
A light brown calfskin strap with a stainless steel buckle and an additional brown leather strap complete this modern vintage timepiece limited to only 500 pieces!

Audemars Piguet – bio

Audemars Piguet is a Swiss manufacturer of mechanical watches founded in 1875. They began in the Vallée de Joux. Jules Louis Audemars formed a partnership with Edward Auguste Piguet. Audemars created complicated blank watch movements for other manufactures to use. Piguet specialized in the final regulation of watches. They then split responsibilities when they began their own company. Audemars was in charge of production and technical aspects while Piguet focused on sales and management. One of their first achievements was creating the first repeater wristwatch in 1892 and in 1972 the iconic steel “Royal Oak”.
