Description

It was the year 1984 when Audemars Piguet first introduced the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar reference 5554.
It combined two of APs revolutionary watchmaking acts: the world’s thinnest perpetual calendar movement 2120/2800 and the design icon Royal Oak.

An incredibly rare watch, the Audemars Piguet Tantalum and Platinum Perpetual Calendar is crafted from the finest materials. With reference 25820 as its muse, the 25829 allows viewers to see all its inner workings. Produced in the late 1990s, the watch includes 371 steel cases, 174 pink gold, 102 yellow gold, 156 platinum, 25 in platinum and steel, 16 in tantalum and platinum, and 16 tantalum and pink gold.

Presenting an extremely rare and discontinued AP, here is the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Skeleton in rose gold, reference 25829OR.OO.0944OR.01

The skeleton dial of this perpetual calendar is sure to attract eyes. This openworked beauty showcases the spectacular movement parts intertwined with the perpetual calendar subdials.

This timepiece’s main highlight is the perpetual calendar neatly laid out with the date at 3 o’clock, the moon phases indicator at 6, day of the week at 9 o’clock, months and leap year indicator at noon. The dial is further decorated with leaf-shaped hands, a style quite unusual on Royal Oak dials.

Powering this piece is the self-winding Calibre 2120/2802, boasting 40 hours of power reserve and comprised of 38 jewels. Upon closer inspection, a particular aspect of the movement can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back: the skeletonized rotor and bridges are adorned with engraved vine patterns. An esthetic detail very rarely seen and definitely adding to the charm and collectible value of this timepiece.

An extremely thin perpetual calendar, similar in thickness to the 15202, this watch will sit comfortably on your wrist at just 39mm.

A very limited production reserved for the elite collectors only, this timepiece is offered with its complete set.

Audemars Piguet – bio

Audemars Piguet is a Swiss manufacturer of mechanical watches founded in 1875. They began in the Vallée de Joux. Jules Louis Audemars formed a partnership with Edward Auguste Piguet. Audemars created complicated blank watch movements for other manufactures to use. Piguet specialized in the final regulation of watches. They then split responsibilities when they began their own company. Audemars was in charge of production and technical aspects while Piguet focused on sales and management. One of their first achievements was creating the first repeater wristwatch in 1892 and in 1972 the iconic steel “Royal Oak”.
