Description

Perpetually innovative and luminous

Introduced in 2001, the LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL series is the first of its kind.

The timepieces in the series merge a perpetual calendar with a signature Lange outsize date. The versatile calendar complication takes different days of the month into account, considering leap years too. As such, if a watch from this series runs constantly without any trouble, one would only need to manually correct it in the year 2100. The beautiful series was first brought into the market through yellow gold and platinum cases.

Interestingly enough, this series wasn’t a brand frontrunner and didn’t receive the appreciation it deserved until much later. Perhaps it was too contemporary for the times or too different for the masses. Nevertheless, all’s well that ends well, and it is now a refined collector’s favorite.

The Langematik Perpetual Platinum 310.025 comes with an inventive “zero reset” function. The watch’s moonphase and calendar dials can be independently advanced without interfering with the other. If this function needs to be conducted together, a single push of a button is all it takes.

The movement of this masterpiece is a mechanical automatic with a transparent sapphire-crystal case back. Meanwhile, the diameter is a wearable 38.5mm and the thickness is 10.2mm. The entire case is in platinum, held afloat by a black crocodile strap and a sublime ardillon buckle, also in platinum. Its rhodium-silver dial features all the watch’s spellbinding complications and signature Lange aesthetics in full display.

The production of this piece stopped in 2017. Adding to the fact that it displays rare German Inscriptions, it is surely one of the most coveted watches for horologists.

A.Lange & Sohne – bio

Founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Germany.  The company soon became the pioneers in watchmaking in their region.  After Ferdinand’s death his sons, Emil and Richard continued to produce the finest pocket watches of their time.
During World War II, they were victims of bombardments and eventually even got nationalised by the Soviet administration and ceased to exist. At the fall of the Berlin wall in 1990, the grand son of the founder, Walter Lange, revived the company with the help of Swiss watch manufacturers such as IWC & Jaeger-LeCoultre.   The brand introduced their new collection in 1994 with success and by 2000 the company got acquired by the Richemont Group.
