Description

A. Lange & Sohne first introduced their perpetual calendar in 2001, which was the Langematik Perpetual. Since then, the brand has produced various versions of the perpetual calendar in different models, combining it with other complications such as as a chronograph or a Tourbillon. Of all models in the brands history since it’s resurrection, Lange 1 can be identified as the most recognizable design.

The Lange 1 was part of the 4 inaugural models introduced by Walter Lange and Günter Blümlein when they officially relaunched A. Lange & Söhne, following the German reunification in 1990. For the first time in 27 years, Lange decided to propose a perpetual calendar-only edition and it chose Lange 1 to house this magnificent complication. Two references were launched in 2021. A regular version in a rosegold case featuring a gorgeous grey dial, and a limited edition in white gold with “salmon” pink gold dial.

The present reference 345.056 is the latter, of which only 150 pieces were made.

This stunning timepiece in the iconic Lange 1 design, exhibits the perpetual calendar in the most legible way possible. The hours and minutes are displayed in their own separate sub dial on the right the days of the week on the left.

The date is shown through a large aperture, while the months take the other periphery of the dial, which is basically a ring that rotates to show the current month at 6 o’clock. The pointer at 6 is also the leap year indicator. And the seconds sub-dial houses the moonphase indicator. All this set against a pale pink dial, it is simply mesmerizing. The dial isn’t lacquered, gold-plated or galvanized, it’s actual solid pink gold with a matte, finely grained finish.

The 42mm case is crafted in white gold. The open caseback displays the Saxon brand’s intricate craftsmanship on the in-house calibre L021.3 (based on L021.1) offering a 50hr power reserve. The 21K gold uni-directional rotor offers beautiful contrast to the movement.

This stunning masterpiece is offered on a dark brown alligator strap with a white gold prong buckle.

A.Lange & Sohne – bio

Founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Germany.  The company soon became the pioneers in watchmaking in their region.  After Ferdinand’s death his sons, Emil and Richard continued to produce the finest pocket watches of their time.
During World War II, they were victims of bombardments and eventually even got nationalised by the Soviet administration and ceased to exist. At the fall of the Berlin wall in 1990, the grand son of the founder, Walter Lange, revived the company with the help of Swiss watch manufacturers such as IWC & Jaeger-LeCoultre.   The brand introduced their new collection in 1994 with success and by 2000 the company got acquired by the Richemont Group.
