Description
The A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Reference 101.025 stands as a beacon of haute horlogerie, showcasing the brand’s unyielding commitment to precision, artistry, and innovation. Each glance at this masterpiece reminds one of the legacy of German watchmaking, where tradition melds flawlessly with modernity.
Dominated by its off-centre dial arrangement, the Lange 1’s layout breaks from traditional watch face architecture. The solid silver dial is adorned in a deep, luxurious rhodium hue, upon which the time, power reserve indicator, and the outsized date window all reside in harmonious asymmetry. It is this distinctive design, paired with A. Lange & Söhne’s devotion to impeccable craftsmanship, that has made the Lange 1 an icon in the world of luxury watches.
Inside this marvel, beats the L901.0 manual winding movement, meticulously crafted and assembled twice. Peering through the sapphire-crystal caseback, one can behold the exquisite German silver three-quarter plate, screwed gold chatons, and the hand-engraved balance cock – each element bearing testimony to the brand’s watchmaking prowess.
The 38.5mm case, forged from platinum, exudes a discreet elegance, ensuring that the Lange 1 sits comfortably and gracefully on any wrist. Accompanying this is a hand-stitched crocodile strap, culminating in a solid platinum Lange prong buckle, providing both comfort and an added touch of sophistication.
A.Lange & Sohne – bio
Founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Germany. The company soon became the pioneers in watchmaking in their region. After Ferdinand’s death his sons, Emil and Richard continued to produce the finest pocket watches of their time.
During World War II, they were victims of bombardments and eventually even got nationalised by the Soviet administration and ceased to exist. At the fall of the Berlin wall in 1990, the grand son of the founder, Walter Lange, revived the company with the help of Swiss watch manufacturers such as IWC & Jaeger-LeCoultre. The brand introduced their new collection in 1994 with success and by 2000 the company got acquired by the Richemont Group.
